After travelling down to Battle, East Sussex for a weeks long convention I had planned to go on to Weymouth for a week, but I couldn't resist a few detours along the route, when you are an artist you have to make the most of every opportunity to gain inspiration.
First stop was Hastings, I have visited before but just had to re-visit. It's full of interesting and quirky shops and an abundance of individual cafes and restaurants. It was a lovely day but I have to say I still didn't venture in to the sea, an activity for a few hardy souls, I would rather swim in a warm sea personally if at all!
In the old part of the town there are around 50 tall black net huts which were built to provide weather-proof stores for fishing gear to save it rotting.

I was glad I had taken the time to visit Hastings again, well worth the effort. After leaving Battle the next day I decided to take a slight detour before continuing my journey, to the quaint old town of Lewes. First stop was the lovely little florist shop called 'Lewesiana' for a coffee whilst admiring the various flowers on sale. I then had the great pleasure of stumbling across this gorgeous vintage shop called 'Closet
& Botts'. What a treat was in store, I would have liked longer in this beautiful place but with limited time had to leave visiting the Flint Owl Bakery before travelling to my next destination, hopefully next time!

Need I say more!
Of course my daughter and I had to take something for our journey and decided to buy after a lot of deliberation a couple of the Mojito Mini's and were certainly not disappointed!!
Lots of freshly baked breads and pastries made from the highest quality ingredients.
After pulling ourselves away from this delightful place we travelled on to Itchenor for the afternoon, stayed for lunch, took a leisurely stroll down to the harbour before continuing the journey to our destination.
