My travels in Kent - Day 1

After booking my lavender tour at the beautiful 'Castle Farm' in Kent I managed to make it with 10 minutes to spare, a long journey from Durham but well worth it.
Thankfully the weather held out and I was able to take some worthwhile shots.

A lovely gift shop, I purchased some of the lavender chocolate,
funny how chocolate always shows up.

A beautiful display of hydrangeas

After a successful time at the farm I decided to call it a day and stayed at a beautiful B&B in the village of Boughton under Blean run by the lovely Vickie & Graham and their sweet cat Cecil. Who would want to stay in an impersonal hotel chain when there are places like this you can seek out with a bit of effort. Great for a solo traveller, much as I like my own company, when I am not travelling with my 11 year old, I also like to meet new people and have a bit of a chinwag.
This gives the best of both worlds and I have to say Vickie & Graham went above and beyond when it came to hospitality. I also met lots of other lovely guests staying for a night or two. I definitely hope I shall one day return to 'The Linen Shed'.

Don't you just love this wooden clad house!

At the back of the house there was a wooden veranda, reminded me of some of the  homes in America where people can be seen relaxing in a rocking chair on the veranda drinking home made lemonade (at least in the films I've watched).

Cute gypsy caravan in back garden

Cecil dropping off.

Lots of pretty things

Even the butter is artistic!

Vintage style throughout the whole house.

Vickie and Graham always offering lots of refreshments and chat.
